Monthly Health Check

Post by O'Fischl_Farm » Wed Aug 09, 2017 9:50 am

Today I did my monthly health check on the hens. Out of 55 birds I found two cases of bumblefoot, only one of which seems like it needs treating. The other hen's scabs are extremely small and the footpad isn't swollen or red. She's not limping either so I'm going to give her some oil of oregano and a good epsom salt soak and see if I can't get it to go away on its own. No other health issues to speak of, and not one single case of lice. I'm a happy flock owner!

That's great! I'm sure it isn't easy soaking a hens foot. Especially if she isn't handled all the time. You should get video.
